- The office of the secretary announced his suspension to the government of the federation (SGF) on Friday, June 9
- As contained in the suspension notice, Emefiele was ordered to evacuate his office immediately
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended Mr Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, from office with immediate effect.
Willie Bassey, Director, Information Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said in a brief statement on Friday night that it is a result of the ongoing inquiries of his office and the planned changes in the financial sector of the economy.
“This is sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.
“Mr Emefiele has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of the investigation and the reforms.”

According to MERCYVLOG, Emefiele has been asked to immediately hand over the responsibilities of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who would operate as the Central Bank Governor until the inquiry and reforms are completed.
